When the daughter’s husband doesn’t help her, she doesn’t like it but she wouldn’t even allow her own son to help his wife. Isn’t this such a hypocritic behaviour and what the heck is the problem with men doing household chores, if the women can work outside and then do household chores then why can’t men do the same. Our regional languages have a rich history and extensive literature, often predating English. Why, then, do we look down on those who speak these languages? These individuals may be scholars in their native tongues, so why are they considered illiterate and uncouth?
I am not criticizing English here, at all, English is a global language and should be learnt by all to communicate with people from different countries. But if someone from India wants to talk to someone else from India in any regional language, be it, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Marathi, anything, and both the parties involved, know the language, then what’s the necessity to talk in English ? Why can’t they simply communicate in the regional language ?

Honestly, this obsession with Western culture needs to be stopped, it has reached such an extent now that people have forgotten Indian culture. Our beautiful Indian culture needs to be remembered and cherished, if all this continues then that day is not far when we would have been totally cut off from our roots and just like no tree can survive without its roots, similarly no nation can thrive if the people are not connected to their roots, their culture and sanskriti.
The craze for speaking English these days, damn, I tell you. From school to office to everywhere, we are expected to speak so fluently in English and anybody not doing this is considered illiterate, not having class, uncouth and whatnot. As if Hindi speaker now, don’t have a place in the society. In school we are taught to say only Good morning to teachers and “Hi” and “Hello” to friends if any child says phrases like “Hare Krishna” or “Ram Ram”, the criticism and laughs he/she has to face, is just pitiful.
Interview at an XXX Indian MNC :
Me : Mom, I am having a stomach ache.
Aunty A : She doesn’t even wear saree and suit, madam only wants to wear jeans top.

Typical Indian mentality says, that if anything is wrong with you, according to your parents, your phone is the one and only cause.

As an Indian girl, if you are unmarried after the age of 30, the society is not gonna spare you and your family. Everywhere you go, you are are going to be taunted and criticized for not finding a husband already and all your achievements and career progress will be overlooked, all the hard work that you’ve done, for yourself and your family will be put into trash because according to society - “Marriage is the only thing a girl should be worried about and that is the only thing which defines her.” And the double standard here is, that a man could be even 50 and unmarried, still he wants to marry a 25 year old girl only.
Lady : (Clearly upset), sure no problem, here.
Mom : Give it to me for 200 Rs.
Let’s start this answer by discussing some hypothetical scenarios :

Let’s use it, to bring a change to the patriarchal mindset of the society, regarding various social norms and let’s normalize the things which are right but don’t fit into the current social norms.
Me : Mom, I feel tired, I have anxiety and depression.
Okay so the last two were to end this answer on a lighter note.
Daughter : Mom, my mother in law is very bad, she always makes me do all the household chores, I come home, all tired from office and then have to take care of all the housework also, she doesn’t even let my husband help me, even if he wants to. And she doesn’t even let me come home whenever I wish to.
Staff : Hmm, everything seems to be in place, thank you mam.

These days, when the cases of women, harassing men for money in the name of domestic violence and abuse are increasing so much, men too need the support of the law to defend themselves.
Mom : Yeah, yeah, you’re right, we’ll think about it soon.
But what about the man who has always been taught by his mother to respect women and never raise hand on any girl, whatever might be the situation ? How does he defend himself ?The society doesn’t support him, the law doesn’t support him, even his own family doesn’t support him, whom should he turn to for help?

Our society has reached a sad state that everybody now, is judged and stereotyped based on their appearance and if by mistake somebody wears Indian traditional clothes like saree and suit, Oh God, they are considered to be so illiterate, having no class, etc. etc. The mindset is that one who wears jeans top, middy etc., and western clothes like these is sophisticated an classy and rest everyone is just uncouth.
Lady : No miss, I am standing in the right line, I know very well which one is my line.

Scene - 8 :

The husband obeys his mother and sits down. After some time, when the DIL arrives from the kitchen along with a tray full of tea and snacks.
Scene - 4 :
Shopkeeper : Mam, nothing less than a 700.

This fear of society, that every Indian lives with, where was this society when that poor girl was being r*ped and torture, why didn’t they come to save her?
